Hillbilly wisdom: “You can not spend more than you make”. Sounds sensible. I mean there are
exceptions to every rule. For example, legislative branch cannot make a budget but they can raise the
debt ceiling to spend more than they have and give themselves a raise. Would it make any difference if
we sent them an email and asked what they did last week? Your job might be at risk? To help bring the
expenses in line with the revenue, I propose a cut in pay across the board for those making six figures.
25% should do it, double that if their job has any connection to running of the government. Second,
immediately reduce size of government by cutting one the senators from the payroll (temporarily of
course, just til we get our feet back on firm ground). Dare say! You wouldn’t notice any difference.
What does a senate (vote) matter if it’s 26 to 25 or 51 to 50. Straight party line voting is scary. You will
always lose a coin flip with heads on both sides of the coin unless you control the call.
The Arkansas delegation votes the same most of the time. So, we would not lose any representation.
This might not be the case in other states. Couldn’t say! Don’t think because our state is labeled red that
everyone is red. In fact, the majority stays home on election day. [That’s a lie.] The last election
turnout was 50.3 percent. Only 49.7 stayed home. Without choices why vote?
But the red/blue labels could be removed by taking away the winner take all approach. Voters might
turnout if their vote entered directly into the count. No, No, No, campaign cost would skyrocket. We do
not need help running this show, we have a mandate.
The budget is next to impossible as we have an emergency every year (isn’t that conventient).
