Hillbilly version: “You might need a buddy in a firefight”. Both extremes need the support of the middle to exist.
“We the people of the united states, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure
domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general
Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this
constitution of the United States of America” (Article 1 Section 1).
Recommend joining forces instead of drafting what you need and discarding the rest as irrelevant
Look from the middle, not at the middle as the middle is the largest group (General Welfare).
Instead each extreme considers the uncommitted needed to join us, so we could?
To insure Domestic Tranquility does not mean to divide the people into opposing camps. Perhaps we
should consider joining the group instead of dividing it, we could have at least some tranquility.
My way or the highway is not “the general welfare”. You can believe what you want but don’t yell fire
in the theater. Our Union is not broken but it is not perfect (nor will it ever be) but the goal is a more
perfect Union. Leave it better than you found it.
I hear a lot about support the constitution from our elected officials but their actions speak louder than
the words.
Can you hear the silent majority? Yes, the middle. Swings of pendulum are not necessarily positive
votes. Trump has the distinction of being the president whose opponent drew the largest popular vote
ever. 81 million voted against him. At the time he was an incumbent and his defeat was sound. Count
the times an incumbent has been defeated and notice the margin of defeat. The majority spoke loudly.
Memory loss
Hillbilly wisdom: Memory loss is something we all have to deal with if we don’t die. “I didn’t say that”
might not be a lie. If you can’t remember, then is it really a lie? Or maybe a mistake but at the least it is
inaccurate. “I’m not a crook”, “I didn’t have sex with that woman”.
There are limits to swings of the pendulum. When you and/ or your party destroy the domestic
tranquility, you can expect the midterms to reflect the value of your direction and guidance. You get
what you play for. Don’t be shocked when power is taken away, AGAIN.
But the president doesn’t run in the midterms. When you lie down with dogs, you get fleas. Harris could
not defeat Trump (81 million voted against him 2020. These same voters stayed home in 2024) because
she could not distance herself from the sitting administration. The pendulum swing was to large. Trump
won with 77.3 million votes. Cheap piece of advice, don’t forget who you represent. We the people will
not stand for only so much.
