Life Beginning and End

·

·

1–2 minutes

Hillbilly version: I’m not afraid of dying, I’m afraid of not living. There is lot of discussion about when
does life begin. The discussion can get heated in a hurry if the word abortion is mentioned. The issue
quickly goes to rights of the embryo and the life of the mother. Is the embryo life at conception or
viability. My body, my choice control the discussion. Whether a person has the right to terminate a
pregnancy has been guaranteed and then un-guaranteed. This is not our goal today to determine when
life begins but when does it end. And who gets to say when life can be directly terminated?
Does my body, my choice apply if a person has a wish to die? The right to end life is about only the
person wishing to terminate their life. This statement is overly simplistic. There are friends, family, and
acquaintances. It is possible in some jurisdictions to get medical help to end your life but only under
legal circumstances. You must be terminally ill with six or less months to live, second opinions, waiting
periods. It is possible but not easy. My thoughts, today, are about lessing or removing those restrictions.
Does my body, my choice apply?
If you take a persons choice then you reduce that person to less than human. You can terminate the life
of your dog. In fact, we make the decisions to put them down because ???

How To Go

Hillbilly version: “hope to get killed by a jealous husband when I’m 92”.

Everyone has some thoughts
on the last minutes. But, and I’m going out on a limb here. I don’t think anyone hopes to live an
extended life in pain or on life support. There are those deviants who envision a long legged blond
doing mouth to mouth in their last moments and women, you know who you are.
It is possible to tell the second the spirit leaves the physical body. But the person is not legally dead
until a qualified person pronounces them dead.
