Hillbilly version: Dan kicked a 63 yard punt in high school and turned down a scholarship to play football because the school didn’t have a good engineering program. At the time I thought he was crazy. He was not. He had a very successful career. Today, young athletes are being paid to play sports and jump from one school to another. The transfer portal selections make up a large part of the team. Is the role of the public education system a farm system for professional sports? There is a lot of “one and done”, transfer portal selection of players, and less student athletes who graduate where they started. This is not all bad but is this emphasis on sports the role of public education? Truly, we love it when our school beats your school.
Congrats, Arkansas Razorback baseball. You did well until you didn’t! Close but no cigar.
