Hillbilly version: Are people really that stupid? Politicians depend upon it. Call it stupidity or unawareness but the politician of today depends upon the constituent forgetting everything except the last 60 seconds. This allows politicians the majority of their terms to do as they please and then change or deny their actions at election time. Attention span of less than ten seconds is ideal for the present political environment.
This is best for Joe (short for Joseph or Josephine), those that have to work on a regular basis. They don’t have the time to consider all the complexities of the pressing problems that need to be dealt with on a daily basis. Joe is busy. Also, Not knowing about a problem prevents Joe from worrying about it. Transparency is out the door. Too much knowledge will only cause stress. Avoiding or limiting stress in Joe’s world is a very good reason to hide or not reveal facts.
It is also good to dummie down education. It’s for their own good. What you don’t know want hurt you.
Last election I voted Libertarian. It upset my eldest daughter. She exclaimed I had wasted my vote. Why did you vote that way? What was the reason for voting Libertarian? Because, it was not democrat or republican. You Can’t do that! Yes, you can. It was on the ballot. The directions said to mark your choice. Don’t you think it is about time to give someone else a chance? Think about it. If the president doesn’t have any support in either house of Congress, then he or she can’t f…k it up. We can have status quo or both parties D and R will have to do their job without undue influence to maintain the party line. We might get something positive done for a change. What’s the worst that could happen? Nobody will remember after the first minute anyway!
