Hillbilly version: congratulations to the citizens and residents of New York City. Your efforts to improve your situation are to be commended. The need for change was confirmed by the voters. Not a single shot was fired but the effects of your efforts resounded around the city, the state, the nation, and the world.

There are those who will say you are tearing down the foundation of our society. To those Naysayers, I suggest that the election process is an affirmation of the wisdom of the founders. This nonviolent change away from status quo for the benefit of the people is exactly what is needed. America has never been stronger than when the system works. The spotlight is on your city. May your leaders be up to the challenge. At this point in time through the election process, you used the process as it was designed. Is this election a mandate? I think not. But this election speaks to the necessity and need for change. Caution: don’t throw out the baby with the bath water.
