When Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act a gauntlet was thrown down. Although the president signed the law, the gauntlet was thrown back at Congress when his subordinate broke the law. What are you going to do about it? Did the president have prior knowledge and deliberately disregard the law? This would amount to a conspiracy! What are you going to do, Congress?

Only if the charges lead to future impeachment charges would they become unpardonable. Was the president not involved in the decision to not comply completely?

Did Pam Bondi, head of DOJ (Department of Justice), willfully defy the law? Why would such a highly qualified person break the law? Does missing a mandated deadline define her disregard of Congress’s oversight.

Is she following instructions or just incompetent in her position. The question is not if the law was broken but under what circumstances the crime was committed. Contempt of Congress is a misdemeanor which is pardonable by the president if taken to court. Your interpretation of the facts will determine your response. There is no doubt the law was broken and few doubt that Bondi will be pardoned if charged. Pardons are available under this administration.

Congress could handle the charges in house through the inherent contempt, using the Sargent of Arms saving time and avoiding the involvement of the justice department.

Speaker of the House, Johnson by his own admission, is in control of the House. He sets the agenda. This is a test that will help determine who he works for (the president or the people). This is more than democrats and republicans. Does our system work with present representation, will the system need new representatives, or throw the whole thing out and start over?
