Health care in America

Hillbilly version: if the system you are using does not work, then try something different. Think St. Jude. The best system (Capitalism versus Socialism versus Communism) will never be decided. Each system has it’s merits and each system would work fine if everyone played by the rules. Hense, my statement that the best system will never be decided. Healthcare can not be defined because we each have a different perspective. Our needs for overall healthcare changes over our lifetime due to age, accidents, or contact with disease. But unless you and your family are extremely lucky, you will need it at some time.

There are those in the United States who believe we already have socialized medicine. They site medicare and medicaid as proof of their statements. But not everyone has these social programs and these programs, as currently written, need supplemental insurances because they do not cover all cost.

Congress supports the insurance subsidies but democrats and republicans differs on what is the correct use of public dollars. Each party, honestly, wishes to determine the amount spent to give adequate and appropriate medical coverage. Certain medical procedures are controversial and keep the United States from having healthcare for all.

Politicians and insurance providers do not always agree with doctors in regard to treatment. Politicians might be wrong but they are not never unsure. And being a leader within the insurance industry has reached fatalistic proportions.

Our system is a hybrid system but the ever rising cost and the reliance on the public dollars indicates that it might be time to reconsider healthcare not as a profit driven part of our society. Make healthcare a service. A service for the people. What benefit is the insurance company to the public’s health? Could we for a minute consider the needs of our people and forget the cost benefit analysis. Can we not take care of our own? Free healthcare as needed, as determined by patients and physicians.

1) Think what free healthcare would do for small businesses. Employee insurance policies are major expenses. Removal of insurance premiums would reduce production cost. 2) Think about individual households and their budgets. More money for other needs. 3) Think about administrative cost of collecting unpaid expenses. Streamlined and efficient.

If after careful consideration of healthcare for all, you determine it is not in the best interest to have a healthy population, then you can say “Well, I did my best!”. Providing an environment that is secure for the people would allow them peace of mind. If the people were secure 4) a single trip to the hospital would not destroy everything they had acquired over their entire life.

Yes, the free healthcare system is not perfect but it is an effort to move to a better America. Not Great, but better. If it does not work, then you can adjust. January, 2026 over 200 years and we don’t provide healthcare for our people. Young people, what do you think? 5) Think about a lifetime without medical expenses. Would such a benefit work to your advantage?

6) Consider Medicaid Fraud, the huge sums that are stolen from the American public though bogus paperwork. Now I’m not saying that people will not take advantage of every system, particularly at first. But healthcare will be given to those who need it. Those that don’t need it will be determined by physicians, nurses, licensed professionals. Let us spend our money on assets that will improve quality of life for Americans. The security that comes from the knowledge that if something goes wrong, it will be addressed.

“Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. Life was mentioned before Liberty. Put our people first.
