Hillbilly wisdom: Violence does not make allies. As president, if you do not get what you want; if you are self centered; and if you happen to believe that you are right, you manipulate the situation. Using deceitful tactics or misinformation one can change the environment so observers think there is an emergency. Keeping the fake news theme, we must assume the president did not get the overwhelming support of the oil companies because the unstable situation in Venezuela makes investments in Venezuela unsafe *Trump offers FULL protection starting at a mere 100 billion investment.

Therefore, it will be necessary to manufacture a reason, an emergency to bring the might of the United States military to bear within Venezuela effectively taking control. The reason could be almost anything. The most likely scenario is act of violence characterized as an attack against the American public or the American military. There will be an emergency declaration for national security reasons.

An emergency removes the need for the Congressional approval. In essence, the president declares himself dictator or king in everything but name.

The military’s power, as in all overthrows of government, will be the deciding factor. This explains why our new Secretary of Defense has requested the resignation and/or removal of any dissenting high raking officers. The present administration will not tolerate any opinions contrary to the opinion of the president. Any suggestion, legal or otherwise, that does not align with the president’s wishes is reason for dismissal.

Congress needs to take actions to bring the executive branch inline with their directives before it is too late. The hand selected media covering the executive branch will not report anything that is not handed to them. The fourth estate is corrupted or at least co-opted. The might of the United States military is awesome. But under the direction of the wrong person is still awesome.

This power grab is not confined to the international scene. For those not paying attention, people are dying in the United States and I don’t mean from old age. We do not need an investigation, we need responsible leadership (representatives). Do your job now before it is too late.

For United States citizens in Venezuela, expect the same level of protection that the non-citizens in America have. Leaving would be advised even if you have to buy your own ticket. A side note, a Venezuelan policy of allowing US citizens free departure for a short duration would be good. A safe departure would be even better.
