Hillbilly wisdom: my comments are really questions. There needs to be a “national set of rules” in regard to federal elections of the president. Members of Congress are quick to jump up and pass any and everything that the president suggests.
Senator Cotton is co sponsor of the SAVE act. Two things: first each state has the authority to set their election rules. And second, we do not vote for the president in the United States. Each state votes for electors who cast votes as part of the electoral college process. 538 electoral votes available and 270 to elect. The overall effect of the Save Act in Arkansas is virtually nil. Does Senator Cotton want the rest of the country to be like Arkansas? What business is it of Arkansans how other states conduct their elections.? It will not effect the number of votes we get to cast in the federal election. This is more smoke and mirrors politics.
As a member of Congress, you have “defacto” delegated Congressional powers to the president thereby weakening the checks and balances provided by the constitution. And now, you would give away delegated state’s rights in regard to election processes. Do your job and let others do the same.
