Hillbilly version: in an effort to keep up with the Jones, there is a need to lead, a need to have more, a need to be the envy of the neighborhood, as you spend your way into bankruptcy. One farmer put it this way: the first million is the hardest to get. After you get that far in, the lenders cannot say no. They have too much to lose. What’s another trillion if it saves the default on the balance! There is some logic to that thinking. You can spend yourself wealthy.

As long as the lenders lend the appearance can be maintained. The problem comes when the loans are called. When it is time to pay the piper. Senator Cotton your state is being held together by government subsidies. You call yourself conservative and yet you support policies that drive the national debt higher. A trillion here, a trillion there. It adds up. If the debt accumulation positions you for future gain, then you will balance in the future.

Arkansans are basing our future upon missile production in the southern part of the state and drone production capabilities in the northwest corner. Weapons of war. Very good strategy. We will have the capabilities necessary to defend ourselves when we come under attack. And we will come under attack. The violence that defines our foreign policy, will be used against us in the future. And as long as the need for ammunition cannot be met by others, the United States will appear fine. But beware, other countries are producing faster than we are. The overproduction that now sells will be closed if and when peace comes to the planet. Peace will have the effect upon the national economy that the individual faces when the loans are called. There will not be a market for our weapons because others will produce cheaper. It is a fine line between flash and bankruptcy. Which part of the weapons will Arkansans eat when peace comes?
