Hillbilly wisdom: Through our actions we teach bias, prejudice, elitism and we defeat ourselves. When preference is given to one group over the other, it does not bring us together. It separates us. When you cannot see or choose to ignore injustice you become a part of the problem. The present Mountain View School District will change following the March 3rd election.

Where we are today is the result of prior decisions. The perception of unity has dissolved and the different campuses are reduced to fighting over money. Money, or the lack thereof, caused a riff in the district. In Arkansas we love the Hatfields and the McCoys. We would rather fight against one another than help one another. This district was formed over twenty years ago because of regulations imposed upon the area by state authority. The state forced the schools together but the state was not not capable of making the campuses work together. This is sad. At the time of forced consolidation each school had better than average grades against the state norms. The goal of consolidation was to eliminate redundancy in administrative cost and save Arkansans money. And now the campuses argue about money. Who gets what?

Has anyone mentioned the children’s education and their preparation for the future?
