Hillbilly wisdom: the best way to stop an activity is a heads up. Preventive measures can be as simple as ID’s and verification of services. When this is not done, the door is opened to fraud.
Vice President Vance will lead the war on fraud. His involvement in the fraud cases in Minnesota he states it is necessary to teach the people “to be good stewards of the American people’s tax money”. An excellent starting point.
At issue are the tariffs collected during the first year of the Trump administration. The Supreme Court has determined that a portion of those tariffs were illegal and (between 135 and 175 billion) will need to be returned to the companies. So pay them. We can safely assume the the money was not misappropriated and is available for payment. In other words the present administration has been a good steward of the American people’s money. Foreign companies paid around 4% and the people and the companies paid 90 to 96% of the tariffs. This increased cost is a tax on the people.
Does this illegal tax (tariff) constitute FRAUD against the people of the United States? It was an intentional act, carried forward even after the President said there were other ways to achieve his objectives.
How impartial can the leader of the War on Fraud be if he is a part of the administration that imposed the tax/ tariff on the American people?
Congress, Get the monkey off the back of the American people. Tariffs are taxes. Taxes are the job of Congress not the executive branch.
