The Lag

Hillbilly wisdom: Everyone who works for a living knows about the lag. When a war starts there is an immediate cost increase to supplies that funnels down to the consumer. Gas cost more. We get it. Historically, it happens every time. That is day one. Day two, other prices increase because the fuel cost necessary to move products has increased. The worker loses again and has little or no say in the decision to go to war.

The worker also understands when the war stops the increased cost continue because of the time gap created from the point of origin and the time necessary for oil to get back into the system. Some prices never return to the original levels. This process is accepted because the worker is powerless in the battle between those that have and those who do not have. Windfall profits from something as simple as the Lag.

If we can assume that we are a nation of peace, would it be inappropriate to stop the pay or those who put or allowed us to be put into a war? That would be Congress. Never work. Congress is not currently doing it’s job or they have defined their job as support of corporate America.

How about, on day one of a situation involving use of the United States Military, all corporate profits go directly into the Government coffers. This form of tax, while illegal, would be the greatest incentive to keep the United States away from “situations” . It would eliminate the effects of the lag.
