Citizenship

Hillbilly wisdom: For a long time it has been accepted that being born within the boundaries of the United States made you a citizen of the United States. That belief drove people to take extreme risks to assure that they would be in the United States for their child’s birth. Birthplace would grant their children opportunities unavailable to themselves. This was the rule. This dream of chances for a better way of life that is being challenged in the courts. The dream will have requirements that must be met. In the melting pot that we call America this challenge seems misplaced. Do we as a nation embrace our differences, recognize the potential of working together for the group versus fighting among ourselves and extend the hand not the fist to those who dream of a better life? Yes, every nation has rules on immigration. And birth rite citizenship is the rule. For over a hundred years, it is the rule.
