Hillbilly version: Who really wants to know history. Do we learn from history or our mistakes? Think about that.
History is old shit. It is a bunch of dead people which are by and large irrelevant to today. Do you think for example that the leaders from the past really wanted the citizens to have rights? Look at the documents they produced. The bill of rights was an after thought. The constitution was an coup to replace the first government of the United States. The declaration of independence was a tax revolt- No taxation without representation. Do you really think the average American gave a shit about taxation. The average American was not paying any taxes. But the concept of representation or a voice in government lead to the independence of the colonies from Britain. Expansion of the country’s borders began quickly. Early settlers were placed on the frontier as a cushion between the wealthy and the Indians. A few settlers got massacred? But the American dream of owning a piece of property played well with early immigrants who had invested all to come to America. Hell, nobody important wanted that land. Just a bunch of savages out there. “The United States will give you some land. A Homestead. You will have. You too will be someone. But you have to live on it and make improvements. Did those in charge own it? They were giving away land which was not theirs. My understanding is Indians were not included in those eligible for land grants? This probably pissed off the people (natives) already living on the land. But they were the wrong color. It really is not about color. It is allegiance. The land was yours if you followed the rules.
Later, the rules changed. There was a property tax placed upon your property. How many of the new land holders do you think stood up and demanded that the government place a tax upon their land? So you can provide services for me in return. And if I change my mind I’ll just pull out of the Union. Similar to the original creation of the United States. Wrong! Withdrawing brought Military intervention. Forced compliance. Reconstruction. Overseers became managers. The managers believed in the new order. The managers had authority and were appointed by the victors.
Which brings us to today. If you do not follow the Trump agenda, you are out of a job. There is little or no security based upon past service.
Today, cities of the United States are being saved from the enemies within -as defined by the federal government. Help which was not requested. Help in direct opposition of the statements of the elected officials of the cities, help counter to court rulings, and now the federal government will help the cities by using them as training grounds for the military.
What rights do individual citizens have when the constitution is being reinterpreted to fit the agenda of the rulers of the United States? When the original colonist did not have representation they withdrew but their rulers where on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
