Tax day

Hillbilly wisdom: Very few people like paying taxes. The individual income tax has been with us for over a hundred years and is the largest revenue source for the United States. These taxes provide a basis for the services we receive. No one denies this but the dislike tends toward two main points: waste and equity. Depending upon whom you are talking to, the waste is spending public money in the wrong place. Do we need more or less health care, education, infrastructure, defense, etc?

Equity disagreements tend to apply to the rate paid by various sectors of the society. There is a call for fair share toward all economic levels.

Every year the tax code changes. Obviously, the code is not where it needs to be. Don’t expect it to be any different next year. But don’t be late paying your share this year.
