Hillbilly wisdom: For the purposes of this rant a blockade is by definition a physical, typically military, action that surrounds a port, country or an area. The United States has declared the Iranian ports off limits. The stated goal is to stop all traffic going to or coming from Iranian ports. This makes it legal. Further, the blockade can be legal in international waters if the belligerents (United States and Iran) are in an armed conflict. There are other considerations like the benefits from the blockade versus the detriments of the blockade which we will not address now.
The United States blockade has extended its boundaries far beyond the Iranian borders and the ports themselves. Feel free to fact this. The blockade is in international waters and the military is being used. Now, Secretary Hegseth and President Trump states the United States president does not have to involve Congress because the war is over. If this statement is true, then the use of a blockade in international waters is illegal because there is no longer an armed conflict.
This would make those involved war criminals. It would appear it is time to declare victory and come home. A better plan (leave everything alone) would have been nice. Time, money and lives well spent? I think not. The planers of this conflict need to be held accountable.
