Truth is the first casualty of war

Hillbilly wisdom: Everyone accepts the concept that lies are okay if lies are for a good cause; the narrative can be used to manipulate for reasons of demonizing the enemy or rallying the public’s support; and untruths can therefore be justified. There is a wide spectrum about who said it first. Possibilities range from Aeschylus (Greek playwright) to the accepted modern day Senator Hiram Johnson 1917 (23rd governor of California, 28 year career in the Senate). Possible relationship to speaker of the house Mike Johnson unknown.

Truth has been mentioned prior but bears repeating under “truth is the first casualty of war” microscope. Sunday (May 17), Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said and I paraphrase anytime the republicans wish to remove the United States from the Middle East theater, “The Republicans can do it”. The republicans can do it. Fake news or not.

True or false? If it is false. Are the statements designed to demonizing the enemy or is he rallying the public’s support? Or Both! Either reason would be appropriate given the Iranian Conflict. Fake news for the better good.

BUT, if the remark anytime the republicans wish is true? We are involved in Iran because the Republicans WANT us there. The wishes are those represented by the Republican majority, possibly against the wishes of the American Public?
