Hillbilly wisdom: Lend a hand, pick up that end, move that over there are all examples of help needed. It requires only that you follow directions. For whatever the reason, two can accomplish the task easier than working along. You need a helper, an assistant. One man and one young helper is equivalent to two workers. The man does not want or need advise. Joe and Son are small operations that utilize the knowledge and experience of the older to accomplish the job at hand. The Son learns a trade directly. Early societies called it an apprenticeship program. Sons were taught trades by others if the father did not have the time or necessary skills. There is a hierarchy, a recognition of the superiority of the teacher over the pupil. The relationship is set.
Our executive branch repeatedly says they do not need any help. This is an example of the old apprentice relationship method of instruction. The single head of this method is both its strength and its very real weakness. This business model does not apply or work in foreign policy. The imposition of one nation over another nation eliminates the concept of equality. Foreign nations do not recognize the United States as holders of ultimate knowledge for them. They think they can decide what is best for them. Some even have the audacity to say no. The United States is the example that comes to mind. President Trump does not recognize this as their right. If his position is critiqued; he reacts, he rejects and he attacks them- verbally and/or militarily. The diplomacy needed to deal with equals is not within his skill set. It is his way or the highway. Mob politics works until someone challenges the hierarchy. The ensuing gang war is messy. There is collateral damage. If the gang war continues eventually The Don will be counter attacked.
We have in place a set of rules (Constitution) to guide us during these times. There is not a need for war within the borders of our country.
