Hillbilly wisdom: There are no coincidences. The war powers act has passed both chambers of Congress. But there is not enough votes to override a veto. The details between chambers would have to be worked out but the president would have to make a stance for the war which is counter to his stated position. President Trump is against this war. He desires peace. Events beyond his ability to anticipate are forcing him to do things he does not want to do.

Events of June 9, 2026: the dog and pony show known as the Iran war; “MUST” be responded to now. This will take authorization of Congress which just voiced their opinion. The timing is what it is. If the last 30 days had been spent withdrawing from the area, this event would not have happened. Now comes the sales job. Listen carefully to what is being said and watch what is actually happening. Peace president or a war puppet?

Unnecessary wars

Hillbilly wisdom: Apophenia is a way of life for hillbillies. We see patterns even when they are not there. As a group we hope for the best but we prepare for the worst. We were told over the weekend that a deal, a peace deal, is agreed upon between United States and Iran. Two of the three major contributors to the war have agreed to stop military actions and open the Strait of Hormuz. Basically we will return to where we were before February 28, 2026. There will be talks for 60 days about peace in the Middle East and trade will resume through the strait.

This is not the first time this has been promised. The end of conflicts between United States and Iran would be a most welcome outcome BUT how many times has this been declared? What has changed?

The house of representatives voted to support the War Powers Act- not by a large margin but finally voted to stop the executive branch’s undeclared war. The pull back or removal of troops from the region is past the 90 day window (legal limit) but there is, at least, some organized resistance to the military action against Iran. A big step in the right direction.

Now, if the leadership of Iran can be persuaded to reveal his location, Israel will be more than happy to eliminate him. It is a good ploy. It worked in February. Damn it, can’t seem to help myself. It is a pattern. One could point out there has been no word about peace from Israel nor have they ceased their attacks. Israel will not pull back. There is hope for a cease fire and continued talks similar to the February 27, 2026 situation. Talks that could lead to an agreement that we had under the first Trump administration. If we had done nothing we would have the agreement and the Iranian War would not have been necessary. We shot ourselves in the foot. Did someone derive some level of pleasure from all the pain this unnecessary conflict caused?
