Hillbilly wisdom: The war is. Because someone wants it. We could disagree on the particulars but the war goes on. Powerful people want it to continue with all the associated pains. In the United states we are lucky. We have access to our daily needs but in other places, I fear, the effects of war are more pronounced. The destruction and devastation are immediate. The disease and death from starvation is slower and more painful. Someone derives pleasure from this sad set of circumstances or maybe it is as simple as the profits of war are so great that the pain imparted is necessary. Pain or profit applies to two different parts of our society.
The level of pain acceptable in the United States creates a mire of acceptance. What is, is. We are being conditioned to accept the unacceptable. We are helpless to stop this war. As a country we must continue to inflict pain on others. There is not a choice. The laws established over time by Congress are ignored. Our forefathers would not have tolerated the blatant disregard for the established rules of society. The wisdom from the past is ignored and passed over. The collective fear (imminent danger) is accepted because it is broadcast continuously through a controlled media. Because the danger is imminent, it becomes a matter of self preservation. Do unto them before they do it to us. A first strike is labeled defensive in nature. Blowing up unarmed boats is okay. What is, is. Or is it?
