Never a cease fire

Hillbilly wisdom: cease means to stop an action. There has never been a cease fire in the Iranian theater. The “cease” fire is drama for the peace president. As defined by the president the “cease fire” means there is less direct firing. Plus the “cease” fire is a time to reload.

On Tuesday the war pact vote provided a framework for the Unites States to pull back from Middle East military actions. Some do not want that result. After the president’s Wednesday meeting with Senators, the senators whose vote made it mandatory for the president to withdraw, went back across the street and changed their vote. What changed? Congress then went on break AGAIN.

The subsequent actions of the United States are not surprising. Two days after the reversal of the War Pact vote with the Congress on break, it was necessary for the United States to counter attack the Iranians. This was another defensive strike. A year ago June, it was a defensive strike. February this year, it was a defensive strike. Literally 5,000 miles away and these strikes are defensive.

Also this week, President Trump suggested the oil companies might not be bringing the price of oil down fast enough. Compare President Trump’s comments with the actions of the Congress. President Trump’s suggestion of an investigation of the companies who contributed hundreds of millions to his campaign and two days later we are back at war. He reversed direction. What changed? The window is narrow-July 4th is one of the largest driving holidays of the summer- but there will be time to bring the price of energy down before the midterms if we start after the celebration.

Happy holidays. Like Congress, I’m done until after the fourth.
