Hillbilly wisdom: The problem is what our leaders are saying is not what they mean. You cannot depend on the spoken word. This causes confusion. Which leads to distrust. For example: the Strait of Hormuz before the military intervention in Iran was basically open to all ships with free passage.
Now the MOU between Iran and the United States (signed digitally June 13, 2026 and President Trump formally signed this at the Palace of Versailles in France (June 17, 2026). Item #5 Iran will make arrangements for safe passage of Commercial Vessels without charge for 60 days.
This arrangement states Iran will- not the United States. No charge for sixty days. Every adult knows the fees are coming after 60 days. The agreement negotiating team was headed by VP Vance with technological assistance from Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff. Make up your own mind about the wisdom of this agreement.
Marco Rubio, United States Secretary of State, one week later (June 24, 2026) proclaimed the strait should be the way it was because it is an international waterway.
(July 13, 2026) President Trump says Iran cannot charge fees for overseeing the strait but the “United States is going to keep the strait .. and we should be reimbursed for providing safety and security”. When did we plan this? Who planned this? *Also 140 targets hit over the weekend. Refer to language of item #1 MOU. If our leaders cannot do what they say, I fear the United States will become untrustworthy.
