Hillbilly wisdom: Articles of Confederation were replaced by the Constitution which became the law of the land. But if history is correct, the Constitution could not be ratified without promises of the Bill of Rights. Due process under the 5^th and later the 14^th Amendments was one of the legal rights that colonist wanted. Due Process arguments continue today. Most everyone agrees that all citizens are entitled to due process. But the fifth Amendment says “no person shall be…” This was placed among the original amendments to prevent over reach by the government.

How can we champion due process without extending due process to all. The boundaries, the reach, and the limits of the United States are global. We should extend due process to Not just citizens but all people we come into contact with in our interactions. People are people. All people should have the same rights. Anything less speaks broadly of discrimination. Every person should have a day in court.

The United States federal government has killed over 100 persons in the Caribbean without a day in court- no arrest, no trial, just an execution.

The United States needs to honor due process because it is a part of who we are. It is a major part of democracy. This line was drawn prior to 1800. Who is responsible for the decision to cross this line?
