Hillbilly wisdom: if the vice president wishes to run for the presidency one day, he needs to show the American pubic he is capable of making tough and somewhat unpleasant decisions. There is no harder decision than the one that places you in opposition with your boss. Yes. Amendment 25. The democrats couldn’t do it. Amendment 25 section 3 has been used for temporary replacements but never has section 4 been invoked for removal of the president for incompetency. Section 4 requires both the vice president and a majority of the cabinet members agreement to proceed for the nation’s best interest.

Such a move would undoubtedly be considered a move against the power structure or political suicide if it failed to stand the scrutiny of Congress and the public. Would use of the 25 amendment be considered in the best interest of the country? And that is the question.

Would the vice president risk their political career over the best interest of the nation? The question has never been asked. The democrats could not do it. Vice President Harris either thought President Biden capable to run the country or was unwilling to risk her position. We have to respect the judgment of the vice president because they are in the best position to make the necessary assessment. Hind sight says her assessment might have been questionable. Thus far Vice President Vance is making the same decisions that Harris made. There is not a call from within the party for removal. It is quite possible that Vance’s inability to stand up for the nation will end any ambitions he might have for future advancements. This is not a decision to be made lightly. And Maybe like Harris, he thinks his best chance for advancement is to keep his head down and his mouth shut. Personal advancement over best interest of the nation. We have to respect the judgment of the vice president.
