Hillbilly wisdom: you find what you seek and overlook what you do not want to see. Nancy Pelosi, first female speaker of the house, will retire after this term. During a recent interview she claimed she did not know about President Biden’s cognitive decline. She may be the only one in America who didn’t know or she could be lying- bold faced lying. If it is true she was unaware then it is a good thing that she is retiring from the public service. Anyone that unaware is a danger to the country. Her investment savvy says she is very aware of things that concern her.

The republicans are in control of both houses of congress as well as the executive branch (maybe the supreme court). Will they use the same approach when asked why they could see or stop the United States’ war against Iran. Today, the first sixty days of the MOU memorandum of understanding signed June17, 2026 by President Trump will come to an end. Will the Congress bring our troops home or allow the president to continue military operations in the Middle East. Are they unaware of the political situation brought about by the president’s action? The president thinks he is doing right. He does not answer to anyone. His doctors claim him competent. That claim was made for Biden as well as Trump.

The debate between Biden and Trump showed Biden’s decline and Biden was allowed to serve out his term. The decisions and possible consequences of the United States involvement in the Middle East are far greater. Whether the president’s cognitive abilities are sound is not the question. The involvement in the war is the duty of Congress. Republican’s political awareness is straight forward. Do your job. Don’t hide behind the coattails of the president. Don’t make President Trump your fall guy. If you want the war- declare war; if not stop it!
