Hillbilly wisdom: Can you really be hypocritical if you are too stupid to know what you are saying does not match what you are doing? September 18, 2026 President Trump signed into law the Lindsey Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026. The act passed with overwhelming bipartisan support. The act imposes up to 100% tariffs on goods on countries buying significant volumes of crude oil and natural gas or aid in sanctions evasion.
President Trump announces a deal for the United States to purchase diesel from Russia now until April 2027. Less than a month, President Trump issues a general license permitting specific limited deliveries of Russian diesel [1.8 million metric tons (24million barrels) between now and the end of year with subsequent purchases of 3 million metric tons (40 million barrels) by April 7, 2027].
The impending discussion is about the significance of the purchase. Some within the administration argue the amount is not significant. The Administration avoids the aid in sanctions evasions question? The present administration has a shifting policy where Russia is concerned. The United States rolls out the red carpet for Putin even as we back Ukraine in the Russia-Ukraine conflict; applies additional tariffs against countries who aid in sanctions evasion and then agrees to import over 64 million barrels of diesel under the guise of special license issued by the president? Hypocrisy?
