Hillbilly wisdom: Remember this fact Iran was attacked by Israel and the United States on February 28 without advance notice. Trump has just returned from a trip to China. The details of Trump’s trip will not be released to the general public. We will be told how well everything went but we will have no way to verify the results of that trip. One of the objectives was to enlist China’s aid in stopping the war.
What we do know: Ships are transitioning through the Strait of Hormuz. The daily number of ships is currently between 10-20 with an estimated twenty to forty million in unconfirmed insurance related payments to Iran for safe passage through the strait. Ships cannot be attached to the United States. Everyone else can go through after coordinating with Iran.
Trump at one time suggested a partnership between the United States and Iran- a joint venture that would exercise control over the strait. That did not happen. Did it? The United States’ blockade is designed to stop ships that are leaving Iranian ports or the coastal areas of Iran- to stop petroleum exports.
The United States’ blockade is after the ships clear the strait. (maintained at what cost per day?) The United States has a daily cost (less than a billion) and Iran collects a few million. That is about as asymmetrical as it gets. Given those figures, Iran can probably last longer than the United States.
Option 1 pull out, leave, we won the war.
Option 2 continue the blockade, prices will sky rocket.
Option 3 strike again, an escalation will be more deadly than the first time for both sides.
Option 1 looks the best. We won. Leave and let other nations mediate and set peace terms. It is the reverse strategy employed by the United States and Israel at the beginning of this war. Since the world is affected by the war, the world should set the terms of peace.
