Hillbilly wisdom: For every action there is a reaction. Anyone who thinks would know that there will be kick back from the actions taken. Why would the president go against the advice of senior military advisors; opinions of the people he represents; our National Interest; long term security? WHY?
After a few days of aerial bombing, President Trump demanded an unconditional surrender and really believed Iran would agree to his terms. His “discombobulator” weapon must have been pointing in the wrong direction. His secret weapon only works when you have insider help, a very weak opponent or the correct environment. Or maybe a discombobulator weapon is more crap to cover up the real reason Venezuela invasion worked.
What Iran has shown President Trump is a supply line that stretches 5,600 miles is hard to maintain with daily bombing runs. Over the first two days the United States reportedly dropped over 2,000 bombs at a cost of 5.6 billion. That level of engagement is unsustainable due to distance. The cost of bombing at that level would break the United States over time.
The necessary steps in correcting a mistake is to first admit you made a mistake. History offers lessons of ill advised conflicts. This is our country, we cannot proceed with more of the same plan.
Fight now- Iran is an imminent threat is bull. The approach taken by Israel and the United States is helping Russia and China. Great damage has been done to Iran but it has associated cost to the United States- material cost and loss of allies as the battles continue.
A decision to strike again with more of the same would increase the cost; increase the recovery time; and risk destabilization of the world. A vote in the House of Representatives to limit the president’s role in the Middle East passed but is short of the 2/3 majority necessary to override a veto. Today we wait for the Senate’s vote. Will the Senate vote to curb the executive branch? Is Congress voting the way you would vote? Would you vote to continue this battle?
