Hillbilly wisdom: the best way to avoid misinterpretation of the conversation is don’t talk to those you represent. If there is no conversation, there can be no mistakes about what is said. And as the representative you get to do whatever you want. If there is ever a question about why you made the decisions, it will be possible to say you went with the majority– the sentiment of the community. A conversation might be a challenge to your position and needs to be avoided.
The last year was marked by great changes in the school system here in Stone County.
To my neighbors: first, how many feel that your point of view was even considered in the lead up to the decisions? Second, do you think your representatives, considered the interest of all the students as they made decisions about the district? I fear that the school environment is reflective of the actions of the board. There is a small group making decisions without considerations about the effect upon the total student body. Talk to those home schooled about how much they felt welcomed!
This is about public education. A zip code should never equate to different opportunities for different students. The value of a quality education can not be dismissed.
The reality is the majority of the adults rule? Now right or wrong, it is time to pay for those majority decisions.
